Organizational Qualifications

I managed the Xiph project starting in 2000. I was involved in the creation of the Xiph.org Foundation, and have served on its board of directors since inception. I have also served as Executive Director of the foundation. At Xiph, I have had the joy and pain of working with other large organizations, hiring/firing foundation staff, fundraising, and taxes.

I have also started several companies over the last 10 years and worked for a few others in high level technical positions. I am currently the CEO of Chesspark, which is an online gaming community built on top of XMPP technology.

I was also a Debian as a Debian developer for over 2 years.

Technical Qualifications

I have been a software developer for many years, and have worked mainly with open technologies and Free Software. I was the original author of the Icecast streaming media server, and helped develop several pieces of Ogg Vorbis related software and wrote several specifications. I was also a Debian developer.

I enjoy writing a great deal, and have written numerous articles for magazines and even one article for a book. I have given technical talks both in the United States and in Europe.
