About Nathanael Fritz

I am a 26 year old professional programmer, owner/founder of Bridged Analytics LLC., father, and XMPP enthusiast since 2000. There is something about XMPP/Jabber that has always held my interest, and I plan to start contributing that energy in a more formal manner through the XSF.

Relevant Professional Experience

  • I built a cross network testing environment for a complex hardware and software, server and client product for Realm Systems Inc. I was in charge of the project from architecture to implementation. The system tested the server, the client, their interactions on a network, process, and GUI level, and compared the results with historical data. The system also integrated with a bug tracking system to open, close, and update bugs.
  • I was the architect and one of the programmers for a store automation system based on XMPP, leveraging the presence module and MUC.
  • I have extensive project management experience which includes code architecture, people management, feature and bug management, and vision.

Current Community Involvement

  • I have maintained Class.Jabber.PHP since late 2003, originally written by Carlo Zottmann.
  • I wrote and administrated the Edgar Bot, which I eventually had to stop running because I could not find an XMPP daemon that could reliably support a roster of 12,000+.
  • I have recently started SleekXMPP, a Python client/server library.
  • I currently host Psi's development server and MUC room.
  • I am actively involved in discussions with XSF members about XMPP and XEPs.

Future Community Plans

  • I plan on rewriting Class.Jabber.PHP in PHP5 as an XMPP compliant library.
  • I plan on continuing to develop SleekXMPP, with the intention of giving the community an easy way to test both client and server XEPs easily. SleekXMPP will have a plugin for every draft XEP and some of the others as well.
  • I plan on developing a bot framework built around SleekXMPP with the intention that non-programmers will be able to configure and drop in functionality to make their own custom bots.

Plans As a Member

  • I will contribute insight to XEP development and some XEP authoring.
  • I will offer my services for interoperability testing, and contribute testing framework code.
  • I will contribute and review reference code for clients and servers.
  • I will contribute to other community members' projects to help them become more XMPP compliant.
  • I will offer my project management skills to the XSF for committees and projects.
